Free group personal training sessions are being held this month to encourage more people to use Canberra’s outdoor fitness facilities, get active and have some fun.
Member for Molonglo and Gungahlin Meegan Fitzharris said there would be a free session at Crace this Saturday 11 April at 10am for people of all ages and abilities.
“On Saturday 11 April, the ACT Government’s new Find Fitness Outdoors program comes to Crace, where the new fitness station will be put to the test by personal trainer Lee Campbell and HerCanberra editor Amanda Whitley.
“Lee is a great ambassador for fitness and likes to focus on the basics. He’ll demonstrate how to use the equipment and show you how much fun it can be to workout outdoors.”
Ms Fitzharris said the Find Fitness Outdoors website, launched by Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Shane Rattenbury last month, also offers an array of tools to assist Canberrans on their outdoor fitness journey, with maps, videos and handy hints.
“We want to see more people using the great outdoor fitness facilities available and I hope this new website will highlight that you don’t need an expensive gym membership to get active here in Canberra.
“I know I love a good walk around Yerrabi Pond, and although it’s starting to get cold here in Canberra, autumn really is a great time of year to get outdoors and stay healthy. There’s no better way to work off all those Easter eggs and hot cross buns!”
