As the election campaign continues, it was great to join the wonderful team at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary last Sunday to announce a Labor commitment to help establish a nature centre in Throsby, next to Mulligans Flat.
Labor will help the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust, which manages Mulligans Flat and Jerrabomberra Wetlands, fulfill its ambition to create a nationally significant, community-led conservation project here in Gungahlin.
The Chief Minister and I got close to baby bettong Berry at the announcement, which was a big treat.
Public transport in the ACT started 90 years ago with the first bus service. On the 90th anniversary, it was a pleasure to meet some of our former bus drivers at the Retired ACT Transport Employees Club and enjoy a slice of cake to mark the event.
It was also a great opportunity to speak about the next 90 years of transport in Canberra!
Thanks to everyone who has come along to see me at Community Council meetings over the last month or so. In my role as Minister for Transport and City Services, I’ve visited each of the Community Councils to talk about our new integrated transport agency, Transport Canberra launched this week.
It’s been very interesting and informative. I’ve shared our vision for public transport across Canberra and listened to questions and debate about the best way to plan for our city’s future. I’m proud to deliver the new agency, bringing together buses, light rail, and active travel in an agency focused on customers, technology and innovation.
And I’ll continue to engage with the community about these exciting plans. If you’d like me to visit and talk with your family, friends or community group, please let me know.Read more
